Billy Grammar is a very simple NeXTSTEP frontend to the UNIX text analyzing programs called style, diction, and spell. The application allows you to analyze the surface "writing" characteristics of a text file. The user may check for improper or wordy diction, spelling errors, complex and simple sentences, and much more. It is not to be considered a strict linguistics or langauge processing program because its complexity is tightly coupled to that of the underlying UNIX programs.
OPERATING SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
This application was developed on a NeXTSTEP 2.1 based color station. It is dependent upon the existance of the UNIX utilities style, diction, and spell. See the UNIX 'man' pages for a proper description of these utilities. It is also dependent upon writing/reading temporary files within the /tmp directory on the hard disk. This is usually not a problem.
INSTALLATION:
This is a stand alone application and may be placed in any directory. There is only one executable file.
